School of Humanities
The Associate of Arts degree in Spanish introduces students to intermediate level reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Students are introduced to the global influences of the Spanish language and the culture of Spanish-speaking nations. This degree program prepares students to succeed in bachelor's programs in Spanish, World Languages, World Language Education, International Business, and Translation/Interpretation. This program can be completed online.
To qualify for graduation, students must meet all graduation requirements.

Student with two years of Spanish in high school may request to be exempted from SPAN 1001 Elementary Spanish I and/or SPAN 1002 Elementary Spanish II by departmental exemption exam. Up to six hours of exemption may be granted. SPAN 1001 Elementary Spanish I and SPAN 1002 Elementary Spanish II are prerequisites to SPAN 2001 Intermediate Spanish I and may not carry graduation credit at some University System institutions.
